Match Report
SCCC opened its season this past Sun against West Haven CC under cloudy conditions but with high spirits. It was a sincere pleasure to host our dear friend and SCCC member, Bhanu (WHCC).
Bhanu won the toss and elected to take first strike against a pumped up SCCC. Khalid did the honors once again by opening the bowling from the "Norman Bird Santuary End" while CJ shared the new ball from the "Porto-LU End."
Due to the heavy mositure the ball kept fairly low but CJ was able to move the ball into the right handers from both off the seam and from the air. He drew firest blood by removing two of WHCC batsmen with minimal damage to the scorecard.
Khalid decided to join to the action by picking up two wickets himself. At the end of the 10th. over, WHCC was struggling for runs with about 20 runs on the board. In came WHCC's skipper, Bhanu. At this point, WHCC needed a big innings from their captain in order to make any game out of it. Bhanu played fluently and pushing for the singles and punishing the bad balls along with Manish before Bhanu trying the play across and was beaten by a ball from Amit for a well played 16.
Amit continued the spell and damage from the "porto-lu end" while picking up 3 wickets. Overall, SCCC bowlers did their path and was well supported by Arvind and Mayur. In the end, WHCC were all out for 107.
SCCC opened the innings with Vice Captain, Sandeep and Veeneet. They were playing along when Veenet was bolwed with 18 runs on the card. Mayur joined Sandeep and both carried the team to the 58 mark when Sandeep too played to a shot and was bowled in similar fashion as Veeneet.
At this point, it was only a matter of formailities in notching SCCC's first victory of the season. Imran and Amit saw us through for the most path and almost brought it home. SCCC completed the task in about 27.3 overs.
